1. Materials to be tested
- Raw material: single-layer films, composite films, film bags, and plastic containers (including paper-aluminum composite products for all the above).
- Finished package: finished packages with content filled in, heat-sealed finished packages without content, and defective finished packages with content filled in.
2. Requirements on specimen size and quantity
For raw material:
- Barrier tests: at least 6 specimens are required for each test; specimen should be flat and integral with at least 100 mm in width and at most 3 mm in thickness.
- Flex durability tests: at least 5 specimens are required for each test; each specimen should be at least 280 mm in length and 200 mm in width; for film bags, dimension is calculated when it is unfolded.
- Falling dart impact tests: at least 30 specimens are required; specimen should be flat and integral with at least 150 mm in both length and width.
- Other mechanical tests: at least 20 specimens are required; specimen should be flat and integral with at least 250 mm in length and 200 mm in width; for heat seal test, specimen length should be at least 350 mm.
For finished package:
- For leak test, heat seal test, and residual oxygen test, at least 10 finished packages with content filled in, 10 heat-sealed finished packages without content, and 5 defective finished packages with content filled in are required; each specimen should be at most 250 mm in length and 180 mm in width.
- For headspace gas analysis test, at least 10 finished packages with content filled in, 10 heat-sealed finished packages without content, and 5 defective finished packages with content filled in are required; each specimen should contain at least 15 mL gas.
For test items that are not mentioned above, please contact our service staff for details.
3. Requirements on specimen quality
For raw material:
- All raw materials should be without scratch, abrasion, damage, pinhole, or creases; without contamination; with intact ink layer; never contacted with unknown matter or exposed to an environment that may compromise test results; kept dry and clean.
- Coiled before sent out to avoid wrinkles (for films and composite films only).
- Sealed in uncontaminated, protective, and intact bags (for film bags and sheets only).
- Sealed in dry, uncontaminated, protective, and intact bags or containers (for plastic containers only).
For finished package:
- Finished packages with content filled in and heat-sealed finished packages without content should be out of scratch, abrasion, damage, pinholes, and creases; without contamination; with intact ink layer; never contacted with unknown matter or exposed to an environment that may compromise test results; kept dry and clean.
- Finished packages with content filled in, heat-sealed finished packages without content, and defective finished packages with content filled in should be kept separately before sent out.
4. Special requirements on specimen
Raw materials should be individually packed and labeled before sent out if fall into any of the following categories:
- The same raw material from different providers
- The same raw material produced by different composite technology
- The same raw material with different thickness
- Other raw materials that are required to be tested respectively by customer
- For diagnosis service need, raw materials that are required to be tested respectively by negotiation
Finished packages should be individually packed and labeled before sent out if fall into any of the following categories: - Finished packages that are filled and sealed by different machines
- Finished packages heat-sealed by different machines
- Finished packages before and after frozen
- Finished packages that are sterilized by different technology
- Finished packages that are sterilized at different temperature
5. Test Duration
- For 5 or less types of specimens, test report will be available within 10 business days after the confirmation of received specimens. For more than 5 types of specimens, test report will be available within 20 business days after the confirmation of received specimen.
- For 5 or less types of specimens, diagnostic report will be available within 15 business days after the confirmation of received specimens. For more than 5 types of specimens, test report will be available within 30 business days after the confirmation of received specimen.
In special case such as non-standard test or special specimen, test duration should be negotiated by both parties.
6. Other things to be noticed
- Any disagreements of the report shall be stated within 7 business days after the report is available. Once stated, test will re-performed on spare specimens (if available) and test results will be offered within 7 business days. If no disagreement arises, rest of the specimens will be discarded and no more dispute will be accepted.
- Any questions regarding the test item and test report can be consulted by directly contacting the testing center at lab@labthinkinternational.com.
