Loop tack of adhesive tape is measured by testing the force required to separate the loop adhesive tape (adhesive side facing outwards) from the test plate. Look tack is one basic index of adhesive tape both in China and many European countries and USA.
According to Method A specified in GB/T 31125-2014: Test Method of Adhesive Tape: Loop Tack, Labthink’s auto tensile tester can be used to test loop tack of adhesive tape with assistance of customized test plate for loop tack test. Labthink’s XLW series auto tensile testers and MED-01 Medical Packaging Tester can be used to test loop tack of adhesive tape accurately and quickly.
T-shaped stain-less steel test plate for loop tack test is installed in the lower sample grips of the tensile tester. Two free ends of the adhesive tape specimen (24mm wide, adhesive surface facing outwards) is clamped in the upper sample grips. Then start the tensile tester. The upper sample grips will move downward at speed of 300mm/min until the central part of loop specimen adhesive tape contact with the central area (24mm by 24mm) of the T-shaped test plate. 3 seconds later, the upper sample grips will move upward at the same speed.
The test result will be the maximum force which causes the separation of loop specimen from the test plate. One more thing is that the user should observe in which way the loop specimen separates from the test plate so as to analyze the defects in manufacturing of adhesive tapes.

Based on experience, loop tack test method has better data repeatability and is more applicable to tack testing of self-adhesive labels and similar adhesive materials.
